Hot weather = little crafting

Filed under: On Pins — Cyndi at 10:29 am on Tuesday, July 18, 2006

The hot weather has been keeping me from knitting. When it is 100+ degrees outside, and around 80 in the house (with the AC running at full blast!), I have zero desire to touch yarn.

I’ve been trying to sew instead, since sewing doesn’t require that I be in constant contact with fiber. Unfortunately, sewing is not a portable hobby and since I haven’t been home much on the weekends, I haven’t spent as much time sewing as I’d like. The cabo halter is taking me forever to finish, even though it is an uber-easy project that has only taken a few hours of sewing time so far. All I have left to sew is the hem… not sure when I’ll find the time to finish it up - hopefully before the weekend.

After I finish sewing Cabo, I’m going to do a detailed post comparing my completedhalter to the one pictured on the pattern. Stay tuned… all I can say for now is that I know why the model is hiding her face behind that cowboy hat.

So I didn’t get very much done on my halter either. I can tell you that from the muslin I made of just the top, if I sewed the top as instructed.. the cowboy had would be covering my chest and not my face. Let’s just say, if I’m able to make this sucker work, it would have been done with a lot of modifications to the top triangles.

when we lived in pittsburg (ca) i was actually knitting in the summer months and my husband would say, “you know it’s 90 degrees outside” — but i wouldn’t care- haha… though knitting in SF in the summer months is actually doable…

Well, you’ve seen mine and there’s a reason I’m not showing it to the blog world. But, live and learn.

Yea, knitting in really hot weather isn’t too fun. Especially when it’s 103 outside. And even running errands like going to the grocery store is a big pain because it’s just that hot.

Isn’t this heat horrible. If we didn’t keep our house at about 70, I wouldn’t be knitting. my husband melts in the heat.

Oh no! The pattern doesn’t turn out very well?! I see that another Stephanie said hers didn’t turn out well either. That makes me sad. I can’t wait to see your pictures. Sorry it didn’t turn out the way you planned.
