Lace update

Slowly, but surely, the Estonian Garden Wrap is coming along…

While the pattern is not terribly exciting to knit, the yarn I’m using makes it so very worthwhile. There’s really nothing like knitting with 100% pure silk. One reason this is taking me so long is that I am compelled tostop after every few rows and fondle my knitting.

I’m curious what’s going to happen when it comes time to block this piece. The lace is already fairly open, and it isn’t all bunchy like lace knit with animal fiber (wool, alpaca, etc). I don’t plan to block it to within an inch of its life, like I did with the alpacapaisley lace shawl. A gentle steam blocking and pinning should do the trick, I think.

On a completely different subject - have any of you seen Glampyre’s latest pattern yet? This is the first must-knit pattern that I’ve come across in a long time. Unfortunately (or, perhaps fortunately) the pattern isn’t available yet. Soon, though, I hope!

Ooh, I like your wrap - it’s coming along very nicely. =) You know, I was working on my trellis lace scarf (from IK’s Spring 2006) at SnB last week, and after knitting a handful of rows, found out that I messed up somewhere. I went home, and found the mistake five rows back, after painstakingly (and carefully) tinking back each row, stitch by stitch! So much for not doing lifelines, right? =P

As for Glampyre’s new pattern - it IS cute! When its available, and you decide to cast on for it, let me know! I just might do that project with you. =)

Oh I like it very much, and the color is scrumptious.

I love the stole - such a great color and I really want to use Sundara’s silk for my next lace project. I really, really like the new sweater pattern. I wouldn’t mind knittig one of those myself (I’m a sucker for bell sleeves). Have a nice holiday weekend.

I often find that the things I most want to knit - lots of crazy patterns changing all the time - are not the things that I actually end up wearing. I think you’ll wear this a lot.
